We the people: In this article, the argument is that Congress is passing laws without consideration to their constitutional authority to do so. As a result, adopting a rule that requires every bill to be presented with, “a statement citing the specific authority granted to Congress by the Constitution under which it may pass the proposed law” [Eas11]. The further implication in this article could be that Congress is conduct themselves as though they do not need to abide by the Constitution. By passing laws without consideration to their authority to enact these laws, Congress is essentially implying that they are above the law and will do as they please. This not only violates the oath made by congress to uphold the Constitution, it also exhibits a disregard for the American people and their rights. Surveillance: Cozy or chilling?
