Comparison of Methodological Quality and Study/Report Characteristics between Quantitative Clinical Nursing and Nursing Education Articles
Why does funding have a lot to do with the comparisons of Quantitative Clinical Nursing and Nursing Education Articles? Nursing education research, an inclusive science in which both qualitative and quantitative approaches are used and accepted. Nursing education lacks common metrics and standardized approaches for the evaluation of learning outcome that’s relevant for practicing discipline. Nursing education researches assessment of published literature didn’t directly involve human participants. The universities institutional review board deemed that they study did remove the review due to lack of funding. Funding for nursing education requires more external funding and that funding can be scarce. Funding was reported more often in clinical nursing than in nursing education research. External funding supported about 2.5 times more clinical studies than educational studies. Primary finding of this investigation was that clinical studies had higher methodologic quality than education studies by conducting multisite investigations rather than in single investigations. They collected data, and focused on patient and health care outcomes. Secondary finding was that external funding was stated in more clinical articles and education studies were conducted outside the United States. Clinical studies had higher methodologic quality explained by higher frequencies of external funding. Achieving higher methodological qualities as clinical nursing has done, education research must then receive more external funding.
